Where and when did you first know that you wanted to become a writer?

I always loved reading, and I decided to type a story and send it to a few good friends and family, when a cousin of mine advised me to go onto WordPress and write my story. That was the moment I knew I wanted to be a writer and made an account.

How long did it take you to write your first novel?

I don't know the exact amount of time, but it took months.

Do you plan out your novels or just start writing?

To be honest, I just start writing—let my imagination take over. Once I get the first chapters, I make sure to reread my previous chapters to make sure my stories continue to flow.

Description or dialogue?

I love both, but I think I am better with dialogue, getting my characters to interact with each other.

Have you ever read your book reviews/comments, and if yes, what did you think of them?

Yes, I do. I always try to maintain a healthy relationship with my readers and get a feel so that I can be a better writer. Sometimes, criticism can be stinging, but I know it helps me to improve myself as an author.

Do you believe in writer’s block?

Yes, I do. I have personally suffered from it. Writer's block can be caused by either lack of confidence in oneself, or personal issues, or just simply continuing with a plot that is boring.

What has been the most difficult challenge you’ve had to face as a writer?

Building a readership and editing both provide challenges. Especially when you are a new author and you are just starting up, you always have to promote and be active to gain readers. I have also always struggled with editing, another reason I never thought I would ever be an author.

Which software or platform do you use to write your books?

I always write on Microsoft Word first, then copy and paste my work onto my online platforms. I have accounts on both WordPress and Wattpad.

What does literary success mean to you?

I would say getting published meant success for me when I first started writing, but, thinking back, I realize what made me feel really successful was when I received the first comment on my story—that was when I knew I had made it.

Which book are you most excited to read next?

Currently, I have so many stories on Wattpad I can't wait to read! There are just so many to choose from.

What is your best piece of advice for aspiring writers?

My best word of advice: Always listen to your heart!

There are plenty of critics out there—don't be one of them. Also, have a support network! Your support network will be your cheerleaders and will always have your back. Most importantly, believe in yourself and bring out the words—whether poetry or short stories—share them!

Where is your favourite place to write?

On my laptop, in bed, late at night.

Of all the books you've written, do you have a personal favourite? If yes, which book, and why?

Yes, I do. Zubeida in Stilettos was one of my favorites to write because it is about a girl who, against all odds, made her life and found love. I believe she has a little bit of me in her, and I had an amazing join-up with other authors to add to it. It brought me closer, and once it was completed I was extremely proud of it.

Do you prefer to write series or standalone novels?

Standalone, because sometimes, when you are trying to write a series, the writing can become a bit stale and you end up with writer's block or not putting your best effort in it. Also, starting an entirely new story has a special thrill.
